St. Thomas Senior Secondary School proudly organised its Annual Intra-School Youth Parliament Session in the School Auditorium on 19 August 2026. The event was conceived and executed with the twin objectives of acquainting students with the functioning of India's democratic and legislative process, and of providing them with a meaningful platform to develop their public speaking, critical thinking and debating skills in a structured parliamentary setting.
The session drew enthusiastic participation from over 60 students of Classes IX to XII, who engaged with remarkable maturity, discipline, and intellectual rigour — reflecting the quality of preparation undertaken by both students and faculty.
Students were assigned key parliamentary roles, bringing authenticity and purpose to the simulation. The designated positions included: the Speaker the Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, Leaders of the Opposition. And the Members of Parliament. The allocation of these roles ensured that every participant had a defined responsibility and an active stake in the proceedings.
The session commenced formally with the oath-taking ceremony for newly inducted Members, conducted upon the arrival of the Speaker. Members raised sharp, well-researched, and incisive questions on critical national issues including: Education Policy, Agriculture, and Public Health.
The session concluded with an address by the Principal, who commended all participants for their outstanding performance. The Principal specifically praised the students for their: Confidence in public speaking and on-the-floor debate, discipline, deep understanding of parliamentary procedures, democratic values, and civic responsibility.
The Annual Intra-School Youth Parliament Session 2026 was a resounding success — a testament to the vision of the school's leadership, the dedication of the faculty involved in its preparation, and the remarkable ability of the students who participated. The event reinforced St. Thomas Senior Secondary School's commitment to holistic education and its belief that the leaders of tomorrow are being shaped in the classrooms and auditoriums of today.
