The Late Metropolitan was a great Philosopher, Scholar, Theologian, Educationist, Editor, Linguist, Public Speaker, Socio-political thinker, Advocate of women's equality, environmental integrity and holistic health. He was a campaigner against exploitation, discrimination, neo-colonialism and religious-cultural arrogance. He was an International activist for disarmament, justice and peace. He was a Life-long seeker of knowledge, truth and the transcendent 'source of our being'.
One of his sterling qualities was his love for children. He was completely at ease when he mingled with them and at his best when he shared his views with them in a delightful and pleasing way. His abiding fascination for the ever-receding frontiers of human knowledge and his passion for shaping the icons of humanity's future, mark him out as a teacher of an extra ordinary wisdom.
Dr Paulos Mar Gregorios discerned the new and the good in the scientific technological culture. He was deeply committed to the issues of science and civilization which he believed are essential ingredients for the progress and advancement that can lead us to a better destiny. He says "Let us commit ourselves on behalf of humanity to turn the course of development from evil to good; from ugliness to beauty; from falsehood to truth and gloom to hope." |
